Jaakko Metsäpelto is a Finnish sound artist. Working primarily with field recordings, he creates sound installations out of sounds that we are surrounded with, but are hidden from human ears, either physiologically or location-wise. Jaakko's work seeks to find mystery in the ordinary, while exploring how certain frequencies affect our emotional response and how the contextual information affects how sound is perceived.
Jaakko has also composed soundtracks for a variety of media projects, including short films and a network TV series. As a composer, combining field recordings and musical instruments with digital processing techniques is one of his preferred methods when creating a distinctive sonic fingerprint for his each project.
